About The Underground Free Press

Dave and I (Jay) are Santa Rosa natives and are the creators of The Underground Free Press (TUFP). In late '05 we wanted to know what was going on in Sonoma County. We had noticed a lack of networking or communication between entertainers and decided to do something about it. Within a couple months we created a website, listed several shows, informed many performers and sold enough ad space to publish (actual paper in hand) 2 issues. Things happened and we had to put the project on low priority. We have pushed things back into motion now and have been moving swiftly to revive TUFP. When we published back in '06 we had great reception.

As far as genre specific, we want all bands, musicians, readers, writers, photographers, entertainers, promoters and booking agents to have a place here. Live music is the dominate driving force behind creating TUFP, but the only limit is set by the users.

We are content starved right now for anything other than show listings. We will accept any content for review (no promises on publishing). If you are submitting content that is running elsewhere, we would like to know, and will keep that in mind during consideration.

We have been working on several functions of the website, and would like any suggestions or feedback you might have.

Mission

The Underground Free Press puts into the hands of everyone in the community, show listings, band info, and all available information of the local music scene. Our goal is to increase awareness of bands and music, and boost attendance of shows. This will enhance interest of music, and create an even greater demand for venues in our area.
The Underground Free Press is the perfect place for our local bands to publicly announce CD releases, upcoming shows, and otherwise important news and events.
The Underground Free Press is an asset to lovers of music, young and old.
